Trainee Software Engineer (QA)

Job Description :
• Test cutting edge high-performance network protocol and security products on a variety of real time operating systems (RTOS) and a broad range of hardware. Develop test plans, test cases and procedures for performing manual and automated testing, validation of tests, regression testing and writing test scripts.
• Trainee period is 6 months, after which candidates will be promoted to Software Engineer (QA). Trainees will be learning ‘on the job’ while working on live projects under guidance of mentors. The position advertised is for immediate joining.

Note : The following functional and technical skills would be acquired during the training and subsequent employment.

Functional skills :
• Proficiency in automated and manual testing including testing tools
• QA management & testing.
• Experience or knowledge in black box, white box, performance & functionality testing.
• Defect management, bug tracking & reporting using tracking tools and bug fixing.
• QA concepts and principles, ISO standards and CMM models would be a plus.
• Planning of software test strategy.
• Ability to lead team of testers, track progress of testing and provide management with status of testing, creation of test plans and test cases is a must.
• OS internals, preferably Linux.
• Networking protocols in Layer 2 and 3.
• C programming and data structures.
• Shell scripting.

Technical Skills :
• RTOS : VxWorks, QNX, Embedded Linux, Lynx, Psos, etc (preferably at kernel level).
• Programming : Advanced features of C & C++.
• Concepts : Knowledge of programming concepts & ethics.
• Strong Fundamentals : Networking protocol stacks, network security, networking, debugging, programming, computer architecture and compilers.
• Technology : TCP/IP, Layer 2 & 3, Routing, Security, Wireless 802.11, Hardware Offload
• Processors : x86, PPC, MIPS, PowerPC, ARM
• Host OS : Windows and Linux
• Tools : Python, Perl
• Familiarity with testing tools, project management tools and quality processes is a plus
• Excellent learning ability.

Compensation Offered :
• Rs 10,000/- per month as a Trainee.
• Salary to be reviewed in 6 months.

Qualification :
• BE / B.Tech (CSE preferably) / MCA / M.Sc (Tech) from reputed engineering college.
• Diploma / formal training in embedded systems design from a reputed institute is preferred.
• Candidates with consistently good academic record (70%+) may apply.
