Position 1: Research Associate – Gender
Job Profile:
IT for Change is looking for a Research Associate with expertise in the field of gender and development, to support our current and future research and advocacy work. This is an exciting opportunity to combine research, project management and advocacy and be part of a fast growing area of work and network of experts.
The role involves working with the Research Director from concept design to coordination and
execution of research projects and advocacy activities. The candidate must be able to think strategically, work independently and author outputs of very high quality. The candidate will be expected to take on related programmatic responsibilities in the organisation, prepare policy briefs and communication material, undertake dissemination of research findings for influencing change, organise national and international meetings and workshops, and continuously endeavour to broaden the organisation's network of allies.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for thinker-activists with a drive for institution building and making change happen, and a commitment to team work and collaborative knowledge processes. Applicants should have a
PhD or a postgraduate qualification in social sciences with at least 5 years of relevant experience in
independent research and project management, and a demonstrated passion for feminist research and advocacy. The position requires a solid theoretical grounding in feminist frameworks on gender and development, strong analytical and writing skills, high quality research calibre, experience in project management and strategic communication skills for policy change in national and global spaces. While some acquaintance with ICTs for development and information society issues is preferable, it is not absolutely necessary for candidates with a keen interest in learning about and building competencies in the area of information society and gender. While some acquaintance with ICTs for development and information society issues is preferable, it is not absolutely necessary for candidates with a keen interest in learning about and building competencies in the area of information society, governance and citizenship.

Position 3: Communication and Publications Officer
Job Profile:
The Communication and Publications Officer is responsible for designing and implementing ITfC's communication and publications strategy. We are looking for a trained communications professional to provide support to the research, advocacy and field teams in developing appropriate publication and dissemination materials addressing diverse audiences and to communicate with the constituencies critical to our work.
The role includes the following:
Support to the research team in editing, designing and publishing
Developing and executing the organisation's research dissemination and media strategy.
Reaching out to and networking with institutions at global and local levels, such as NGOs, government departments, to build ITfC's profile.
Sending out periodic bulletins of ITfC's activities to a wide audience.
Overseeing ITfC's website design and content management.
Writing annual report and reports to funding partners.
Contributing to policy advocacy functions.
Taking on related programmatic tasks and responsibilities.
Who we are looking for:
The candidate should be a post-graduate with 3-5 years of experience in communication and publication activities for the development sector. Candidates with training and experience in copy editing and in working with designers are preferred.
While some acquaintance with ICTs for development and information society issues is preferable, it is not absolutely necessary for candidates with a background in communication for not-for profit organisations, and a keen interest in building expertise in new areas. Demonstrated experience in communicating complex issues in a cogent manner to diverse constituencies is a must.
